Software Engineer Backend

Job description

**CTG is seeking to fill a Software Engineer – Backend position for our client.**

**Location:** Remote
**Duration:** 12 months

**Duties:**

+ Design, develop, and maintain backend systems and APIs to support large-scale applications.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements, architecture, and technical specifications.
+ Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code using modern PHP frameworks.
+ Optimize and troubleshoot applications to ensure high performance and reliability.
+ Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle including planning, coding, testing, and deployment.
+ Implement best practices for API design, data security, and system scalability.
+ Support and enhance existing services and systems, ensuring stability and continuous improvement.

**Skills:**

+ Strong proficiency in **PHP 8.x frameworks** (Laravel, Symfony).
+ Expertise in **relational databases** (MySQL/MariaDB, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
+ Deep understanding of **RESTful API** design and integration.
+ Hands-on experience with **AWS services** (EC2, ECS, RDS, Lambda, S3, SQS).
+ Experience with **search technologies** (Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Solr).
+ Solid knowledge of **software development lifecycle** best practices, including testing and deployment.

**Nice to Have Skills:**

+ Experience with **observability and APM tools** (Sentry, Sumologic, Datadog, New Relic).
+ Familiarity with **containerization and orchestration** (Docker, GitLab, Terraform).
+ Knowledge of **caching technologies** (Redis, SingleStore, Memcached).
+ Experience with **CI/CD pipelines** and version control using Git.
+ Background in **ETL pipeline development** (Apache Airflow).
+ Understanding of **security best practices** for web applications and data protection.

**Experience:**

+ 5+ years of professional backend development experience.
+ Proven ability to design, build, and deploy scalable backend systems.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

**Education:**

+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $90,000 to $105,000.

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.

In addition to salary, a competitive benefits package is also offered.
