Project Controls Coordinator II



Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Field Control Analyst to support project teams with cost tracking, earned value analysis, progress reporting, and documentation control.

This role is crucial in ensuring financial accuracy and performance transparency for large-scale construction and infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial or oil & gas construction environments and strong capabilities in cost tracking systems, Excel, and reporting tools.




Key Responsibilities:



  • Record, track, and maintain all submissions related to cost, progress, and change management.




  • Update and maintain earned value reports daily across major project scopes.




  • Review and record Labor, Equipment, and Material (LEM) tickets to capture accurate cost and man-hour data.




  • Review and analyze daily progress reports; identify and report variances from baseline estimates.




  • Conduct critical cost analysis and assist in budget forecasting and management.




  • Work with contractors to validate rates and cost estimates for reporting accuracy.




  • Coordinate with field inspectors to ensure proper documentation is collected and verified.




  • Validate invoice accuracy against contract terms; ensure proper date alignment and amount verification.




  • Interface with the Accounts Payable team and utilize ERP tools (Oracle Cloud, SAP, etc.) for proper invoice coding and routing for approval.




  • Compile scheduled and ad hoc reports as requested by project leadership.




  • Participate in project and contractor update meetings to provide cost and progress insights.




  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Field Control Advisors, and Project Controls teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting.




  • Comply with all internal policies, including safety, integrity, and respect in the workplace.






Qualifications:



  • University degree or technical training in construction, engineering, or a related field.




  • 2+ years of relevant experience in cost control or scheduling, preferably in industrial construction or oil & gas sectors.




  • Solid understanding of construction project lifecycles, including engineering, procurement, execution, and commissioning phases.




  • Familiarity with pipeline, terminal, or facility operations is an asset.




  • Proficient in MS Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, conditional formulas).




  • Experience with Oracle, SAP, or similar enterprise systems.




  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.




  • Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence tools is a plus.




  • Highly organized and service-oriented with a collaborative team mindset.






Working Conditions:



  • Standard office environment with occasional field interface depending on project needs.






Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs, perform repetitive motion tasks (typing), and sit for extended periods.




  • Capable of visual work including screen reading, color detection, and small text review.




  • Occasional kneeling, reaching, and use of typical office equipment.






Mental Requirements:



  • Ability to follow and apply written and verbal instructions.




  • Strong understanding of complex information and ability to develop alternative solutions.




  • Capable of organizing and prioritizing work independently.




  • Comfortable composing standard reports, emails, and memoranda.




  • Effective communicator via phone and in written form.
