ROLE SUMMARY
Data Engineers on the Proprietary Research team design and build solutions that enable our investment professionals to effortlessly extract insights from large, complex, compliance-approved structured and unstructured data sets.
During your internship as a member of our Data Engineering team in our New York office, you will gain exposure by:
Working closely with investment professionals, researchers, and data scientists to assist in the design, build, and launch robust end-to-end data pipelines and tools that that help extract the most value out of Point72’s data assetsAssisting in the development and support of big data processing pipelines including but not limited to ingestion, transformation, and end-customer deliveryParticipating in the build out of cloud-based infrastructure using distributed techniques for other data engineers/data scientists/researchersBeing at the forefront of new technology developments with respect to the handling and processing of big data and conduct proof-of-concept evaluations of new technologiesPartnering with internal teams as they build and support visualization and exploration capabilities around our big data setsWHAT EXCITES YOU & WHAT EXCITES US

Pursuit of a bachelor’s or MS degree in CS, Engineering, or other quantitative disciplineExperience or demonstrated interest in big data technologiesSolid understanding of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, etc.)Strong experience in Python developmentInterest in working with data and big data problems and technologies, such as Spark and ScalaAbility to devise novel and innovative solutions to challengesKnowledge of/experience with graph databases is a plusCommitment to the highest ethical standardsWHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

The annual base salary is $130,000-$155,000 (USD) which will be prorated based on internship start and end date.
Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
