Position Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Assistant Dean for Arts and Sciences at Rose Hill, the Academic Advisor provides holistic, personalized guidance to First and Second Year students in Fordham College at
Rose Hill ( FCRH ), aiming to bolster their academic success, strengthen their connections to their programs of study, introduce them to relevant extracurricular opportunities, and support their transition to college-level studies.



Academic Advisors also play crucial roles as liaisons, facilitating ongoing communication and collaboration with the faculty leadership of academic programs, with faculty advisors, and with administrative staff within the Deans’ Offices and throughout the university.



This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours to support major campus events.

Depending on background and qualifications, an appointment will be made as either an Academic Advisor or a Senior Academic Advisor.
Essential Functions:
Meets individually with all assigned students (in person, online, and by phone) on a regular basis to provide academic advising and degree planning and to support the transition from high school to college.

Develops programming and provides resources to students in support of their academic progress and career development.

Applies best practices in academic advising to assist students in selecting programs of study, discerning fields of study, and connecting to experiential opportunities such as undergraduate research, study abroad, community-engaged learning, and internships.

Collaborates with other members of the Advising Center and Deans’ Offices to develop a strong community and to deliver programs that support student success, retention, and degree completion.
Works collaboratively with student success team, departmental associate chairs, program directors, faculty mentors, and other members of the faculty and staff on student academic progression and student concerns.

Contributes to the effectiveness of academic advising and student support through team-based work with other deans in the FCRH , FCLC , the Gabelli School of Business, and other schools throughout Fordham University.

Fully leverages the potential of the Fordham Hub (powered by Salesforce) to provide wraparound student support; uses the Fordham Hub and other data-based tools to identify and prioritize students who would benefit from intervention and support.

Attends regular case conferences and works collaboratively with others across the institution, including Counseling and Psychological Services, Campus Ministry, and Student Affairs, in identifying and supporting at-risk students.

Responds to regular inquiries from students, parents, faculty, and other administrators with regard to academic and course-related issues.

Understands and complies with all FERPA regulations and maintains appropriate confidentiality.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree

Academic Advisor: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in higher education, academic advising, or transfer student support.

Senior Academic Advisor: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in higher education, academic advising, or transfer student support.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Higher Education Student Affairs, Counseling, or related field.



Experience in advising special populations, such as STEM .

Experience with Banner, Salesforce, and web management systems.
Minimum Salary: $65,000

Maximum Salary: $85,000
