**POSITION DETAILS**
The School of Arts & Sciences at Hunter College, the largest academic unit within the City University of New York (CUNY), is home to over 460 full-time faculty across 26 departments and 10 interdisciplinary programs.
Serving more than 15,000 undergraduate and 4,000 graduate students, the School delivers the majority of Hunter’s general education curriculum and a wide array of disciplinary and pre-professional degree pathways.
The Dean’s Office seeks a Faculty Workload and Curriculum Operations Specialist, a detail-oriented and analytically skilled professional responsible for coordinating faculty workload compliance and supporting curriculum and catalog operations across the School.
The Specialist ensures timely and accurate workload reporting in CUNYFirst and CourseDog, upholds compliance with university and contractual policies, and supports efficient, policy-aligned academic operations., working closely with department chairs, faculty, and staff, the Specialist plays a critical role in operationalizing policies, interpreting workload rules, and resolving data integrity issues.
The role requires technical fluency in large data sets, independent problem solving, and a commitment to process improvement in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Student Achievement, the Faculty Workload and Curriculum Operations Specialist will provide training, troubleshooting, and administrative coordination that strengthens the School’s academic infrastructure and supports its mission to advance student success.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Faculty Workload and Curriculum Operations Specialist will be responsible for the following duties:
• Manage and audit faculty workload (FWL) compliance across 30 academic departments and programs in alignment with the PSC-CUNY contract, college workload guidelines, and CUNY policy; identify and correct workload issues in CUNYFirst and CourseDog.
• Serve as the primary liaison and subject-matter expert on faculty workload processes, providing guidance to departments, troubleshooting system issues, and interpreting assignment types, workload credits, and contractual provisions.
• Train department chairs and staff on workload policies and systems, including delivering onboarding workshops and maintaining up-to-date documentation and manuals for CUNYFirst and CourseDog, proactively flagging access needs for the departments to complete.
• Review, analyze, and report on workload data using operational databases, dashboards, and CUNYFirst queries; ensure all entries are accurate, timely, and documented for audit readiness.
• Support curriculum and catalog operations by coordinating review and submission processes, preparing materials for meetings, and serving as liaison between academic departments and the Provost’s Office.
• Provide confidential, proactive administrative support to the Assistant Dean, including tracking communications, preparing agendas, documenting meetings, and ensuring timely follow-up on action items.
• Continuously improve operational workflows related to workload and curricular processes, independently identifying areas for improvement and proposing or implementing solutions under minimal supervision.
• Collaborates with Academic Affairs, Human Resources, Registrar, and IT to align workload and curriculum data across systems and operations
**QUALIFICATIONS**
Bachelor’s degree and four years’ related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Proficiency working with large data systems (e.g., PeopleSoft/CUNYFirst, CourseDog), including data entry, reporting, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, manage deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively, interpret policies, and communicate clearly with faculty and staff.
**CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW**
Supervises the administration of data and processes which track faculty activities such as workload.
- Assures information on faculty workload is accurately collected, entered, and maintained in automated systems
- Works with executive assistants, department chairs, and professional staff to assure a smooth reporting process
- Develops College-wide policies and procedures for workload reporting and processing, and advises College personnel
- Supervises office staff as needed
- Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience, within the approved hiring range ($90,838- $109,025).
