Description
The Department of Horticultural Sciences in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for one full-time, Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure) faculty position with a 9-month academic appointment beginning January 5, 2026.

Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Lecturer, Instructional Assistant Professor or Assistant Professor of the Practice, depending on qualifications.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a minimum of two (2) or three (3) courses or five (5) sections per semester.

Possible courses would include Hort 203 Floral Design, Hort 451 Retail Floristry, Hort 452 Wedding and Personal Flowers, Hort 453 Floral Art, or Hort 454 Special Event Design and Production, as needed, serve as Instructor of record for the labs associated with the course, and manage the certificate in floral design.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for procuring all floral materials, serve as co-advisor for the Texas A&M student chapter of SAIFD, assist with coordination and implementation of campus special events through class projects and SAIFD, plan, procure and process lab materials and supplies, engage with floral organizations, garden clubs and horticultural organizations on a local, regional, state, and national level, and assist with the supervision of two or three student workers.

The candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills, proficiency with word processing and spreadsheets, willingness to learn multiple TAMU software systems, and experience supervising personnel and student workers.

The candidate should be proficient and tactful in his/her ability to meet, communicate, and deal effectively with students, visitors, the general public, and co-workers, and serve on departmental/college/university committees.

The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.


Qualifications
For a Lecturer or Instructional Assistant Professor title:

Minimum/Required Qualifications:


+ The applicant must have a master’s degree in horticulture, plant science, plant biology, agriculture, or related discipline, and strong knowledge and experience in floral design and significant teaching experience at the college/school level in the field or in a related field are required.

Teaching experience and national accreditation in floral design (CFD or AIFD) are highly desired.




For an Assistant Professor of the Practice title:

Minimum/Required Qualifications:


+ The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in horticulture, plant science, plant biology, agriculture, or a related discipline and have an extraordinary record of accomplishment in an applied setting, and have a minimum of three years of full-time experience in floral design and/or teaching floral design.

Teaching experience and national accreditation in floral design (CFD or AIFD) are highly desired.
