Adjunct Instructor - Business & Computer Science
The business and computer science departments seek one or more experienced and dedicated part-time professionals to teach the following courses in their curriculum.
Instructors are compensated on a per course basis.
Accounting Information Systems (2 credits)
Introduces conceptual data modeling, transaction processing systems, enterprise resource planning systems, business processes, documentation, computer security, internal control systems and cyber ethics from an accountant’s perspective.
Business Data Analysis Using Spreadsheets (2 credits)
Teaches students to use spreadsheets to organize, calculate, analyze and report on business data.
Business Data Management Using Databases (2 credits)
Teaches students to use relational databases to organize, query, analyze and report on business data.
Qualifications include at least a master’s level education in the discipline, commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring, commitment to the Christian faith and dedication to the integration of faith and learning in one’s academic discipline, and a history of industry or teaching experience relevant to the courses.
Application Process
In an effort to find and employ the best qualified faculty, the departments maintain an open and rolling application process designed to identify a group of the most highly qualified individuals who may be called upon to teach as the need arises.
Individuals whose initial application materials indicate a potential fit with the departments' needs and Northwestern’s mission will be invited for an interview and, in some cases, a classroom teaching demonstration.
Upon completion of this process, successful candidates will be informed of concrete teaching needs and timetables by the department chair.
While applicants are welcome to submit materials at any time, hiring decisions are generally made in September and April for the following semester.
