The USC Sol Price School of Public Policy is seeking a working professional with expertise and a primary position in urban planning, transportation engineering or a related field.
The successful candidate should possess a masters degree or doctorate in the field of urban planning or related field.
The candidate will be able to teach a graduate-level course related to one or more of the following areas: policy, planning, and development; with specific knowledge and experience in institutional and policy issues in Transportation, methodology, assessment and planning methods for transportation urban sustainability and land use planning systems and spatial analysis, and the history of transportation.
Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience and excellent teaching evaluations.
The candidate will teach PPD : Institutional and Policy Issues in Transportation, a graduate-level course.
The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the historical and contemporary challenges in urban transportation, with a focus on policy analysis and institutional frameworks.
It explores the nature of transportation problems, key policy issues, and potential solutions in the context of urban mobility.
The course emphasizes the evolving role of technology in shaping transportation systems and particularly its impact on shared mobility, market disruption, and the development of multi-modal networks.
Students will examine the interplay between private sector innovation and public sector regulation, gaining insight into the institutional landscape across federal, state, regional, and local levels.
The course provides a critical understanding of transportation alternatives, decision-making processes, and the complex responsibilities and interactions among agencies.
Adjunct instructor responsibilities include delivery of course content, scheduling office hours and being accessible to students as appropriate, and grading.
Each instructor is expected to provide students with a syllabus outlining the course goals, schedule and all requirements for the course under the direction of the Department Chair.
The hourly rate range for this position is $./hr.
