Pay: $18 - $21/HR
Location: Onsite in Willmar, MN | No ability to work remote
Schedule: 30-40 hours/week
Timeframe: A minimum of 3months

The Opportunity
We’re seeking a motivated undergraduate student for an entry-level internship focused on computer vision and image data quality.

This role is ideal for someone with solid Python skills and some exposure to machine learning, who wants to deepen their understanding of how data impacts model performance.



You’ll work closely with our research team to build a high-quality image dataset for training and evaluating computer vision models.

This is a hands-on role with a strong emphasis on data collection, analysis, and preprocessing, which is the foundation of successful AI systems.


In machine learning, data quality is everything.

You’ll learn why 70–80% of ML work is data-focused and how thoughtful dataset design leads to better models.

This internship is a great fit for someone who wants to build practical skills and contribute to real-world AI research.



Responsibilities

+ Set up image capture environments, including lighting, angles, and backgrounds, to optimize data quality.



+ Collect and evaluate image data, retaking or adjusting setups as needed.



+ Preprocess and organize image datasets for training (e.g., resizing, normalization).



+ Annotate or label images for supervised learning tasks.



+ Train and fine-tune models using TensorFlow, with guidance from the team.



Required Skills

+ Currently pursuing or recently completed an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.



+ Proficient in Python, including libraries like NumPy and Pandas.



+ Some exposure to machine learning, such as coursework or personal projects involving model training using frameworks such as Tensorflow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.



+ Interest in computer vision and understanding how image characteristics affect model accuracy.



Preferred Skills

+ Experience working with image data (classification, detection, segmentation).



+ Familiarity with tools like OpenCV, PIL, or TensorFlow/Keras.



+ Understanding of CNNs or other deep learning architectures.



Educational Background

+ Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.



+ Coursework or projects in machine learning, deep learning, or computer vision.
