AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (TITLE 32) Job Opening In Scott AFB – Now Hiring Air National Guard Units

Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1366000 and is part of the IL 126, National Guard.

Responsibilities As a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC (TITLE 32), WG-8852-5/8/10, you will inspect, repair, modify, and service aircraft systems, components, and assemblies, both on- and off-aircraft.

Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Perform inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on aircraft to include periodic, phase, hourly, preflight, postflight, calendar, thru-flight, and special inspections such as fuel contamination, emergency equipment, and oil sampling.

Inspect and perform functional checks such as landing gear retraction and operation checks on hydraulic, electrical, pressurization, lubrication, de-icing, vacuum, induction, and exhaust systems.

Installs equipment such as external tanks, tow reels, hoists, and pylons.

Troubleshoot and perform unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft, utilizing various gauges, meters, measuring devices and other related test equipment.

Perform major adjustments and alignments of aircraft systems or components and assists specialists as required.

Removes and replaces aircraft components such as control surfaces, engines, constant speed drive, engine mounted gear boxes, wing fuel tanks or cells, landing gear mechanisms, wheels, brakes and tires.

Service oil, fluid, fuel, hydraulic, and oxygen systems.

Adjust and maintain installed equipment such as tow targets, hydraulic reels, and drive assemblies.

Remove and replace working or inoperative parts and elements.

Performs operator maintenance on aircraft installed auxiliary power units.

Tows, taxies, parks, and moors assigned and transient aircraft.

Requirements Conditions of Employment This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the Illinois National Guard and in the military grade listed in the announcement.

This is required prior to the effective date of placement.

Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

May be required to successfully complete a trial period.

This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.

An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

IAW The Fair Chance Act, Agency employees may not request criminal history information at the point of initial application, upon receipt of an application, or prior to, during or after a job interview.

If an Optional Form (OF) 306, Declaration of Employment is submitted prior to the point of a conditional offer, questions related to background information section may not be asked.

Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Qualifications AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence, The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.

The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.

The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.

The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.

The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens.

Military Grades: Maximum Rank of E6 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience or training that has provided you with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications; must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-10 Level MUST possess experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification; experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow; must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.

WG-8 Level MUST possess experience or training in the use of common hand tools to make mechanical repairs; experience removing and installing aircraft parts, components, and accessories with detailed guidance; experience in following detailed instructions in making routine, reoccurring repairs and modifications to aircraft parts, subassemblies, and components, e.g., such as jacking and leveling aircraft, installing, and adjusting engines, landing gear assemblies, instrument panels, and flight control systems.

WG-5 Level MUST possess experience or training in the use of common hand tools to make mechanical repairs; experience removing and installing aircraft parts, components, and accessories with detailed guidance.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
