The Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) Support Manager is responsible for overseeing the implementation, maintenance, and support of commercial software solutions within the organization.
This role ensures COTS products meet business requirements, are properly integrated into existing IT environments, and remain secure, compliant, and up-to-date.
The manager collaborates with vendors, internal stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure reliable performance, effective user support, timely upgrades, and issue resolution.
The ideal candidate has strong project management skills, deep understanding of enterprise software environments, and experience managing vendor relationships and software lifecycle activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Proven experience managing a team of application administrators and application DBAs Manage on-call schedule and ensure cross training of team members Experience working with end users to ensure quality of service delivery Experience using continuous improvement to increase quality of service delivered. Experience employing problem management and root cause analysis to enhance application availability Oversee knowledge management and buildout of knowledge-base to aid is support and troubleshooting.
Experience working with application vendors to implement new systems and resolve technical issues. Coordinate technical details for product upgrades and provide status updates to management Preferred Qualifications/Education/Experience:
5+ years of experience in a COTS application support manager role Proven experience leading a COTS application support operation for large-scale enterprises Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Any relevant industry or technology certifications a plus Experience instrumenting and monitoring Enterprise COTS Applications Experience working with a Software Development Life Cycle including change management. Experience performing capacity planning Experience with Windows & Linux Server operating systems Tibco EMS, EDI and Business works a plus
