Arcadia University is hiring: Student Success Librarian in Glenside

Overview

The Student Success Librarian leads the development, implementation, and assessment of Arcadia University's information literacy curriculum.

As a key instructional partner and a member of the faculty, this position collaborates with faculty, staff, and campus stakeholders to embed research and information literacy across the curriculum and ensure that library instruction supports students' academic growth, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.

The librarian champions inclusive, student-centered outreach and engagement initiatives, contributing to campus-wide efforts to enhance student belonging, equity, and retention.

This is a non-tenure track, 12-month faculty appointment with access to promotion.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Information Literacy Curriculum Leadership

• Design, coordinate, and assess a robust information literacy curriculum that aligns with institutional and departmental learning goals.
• Partner with faculty to integrate research and information literacy instruction into course and program curricula.
• Create instructional materials, including online learning objects, guides, and tutorials.
• Lead faculty development efforts related to research instruction and critical information literacy.

Student Engagement and Success

• Develop library programs, services, and communications that foster student engagement and academic success.
• Identify and respond to the needs of various student populations.
• Collaborate with offices across campus to integrate library support into student success initiatives.

Liaison and Outreach

• Serve as a liaison to academic departments, providing discipline-specific instruction, consultation, research support, and collection development.
• Cultivate faculty partnerships to support the integration of library resources into academic programs.

Instruction and Research Support

• Deliver classroom instruction, workshops, and orientations on information and media literacy topics.
• Provide individualized research consultations to support students in developing research competencies.

Institutional Repository and Student Scholarship

• Promote and curate student research and creative work in the institutional repository.
• Coordinate repository participation in campus events such as capstone showcases and conferences.

Marginal Functions

• Participate in ongoing program assessment and data collection to evaluate impact and improve services.
• Engage in university life through committee service, programming, and faculty governance.
• Maintain involvement in regional and/or national library organizations.
• Conduct scholarly research and contribute to the profession as a faculty member.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Expertise in information literacy instruction and curriculum design across a range of disciplines.
• Knowledge of instructional design principles and assessment strategies.
• Strong pedagogical grounding in critical information literacy, AI, media literacy, and digital citizenship.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty and staff across departments.
• Excellent communication, teaching, and facilitation skills.
• Commitment to Arcadia's values and accessibility in higher education.
• Familiarity with tools for creating online instructional content and managing digital repositories.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program.
• Demonstrated experience teaching information literacy in an academic setting.
• Evidence of leadership or coordination in instructional design or curriculum development.
• Experience supporting student success.
• Eligibility for appointment as library faculty, including engagement in scholarship and service.
