Job description

The Solution Architect will lead the transition toward a future-state architecture that integrates seamlessly with the modern Policy Administration System (PAS).

Key responsibilities include shifting policy administration functions from the agency sales system into the PAS, simplifying and modernizing the front-end interface, and enabling rapid product launches and updates.

The Architect will collaborate with stakeholders and development teams to define and execute architectural improvements, ensuring the solution supports streamlined agency operations, reduces complexity, and drives business agility.



Job Purpose

The Solution Architect role is a highly specialized role covering multiple domains:

+ Primarily responsible for the design (and development) of Insurance Solutions and supporting functions.

+ Collaboration and interface with other functional domains such as policy administration, payment and collection, data warehouse and others.

The Solution Architect will be assigned to a portfolio of projects that are directly related to insurance business solutions.


Job Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities:

+ Working with project manager and business analyst to deliver end-to-end solution for the assigned projects.

+ Leading communications with Regional/Lead Architect about and attaining approval for project final solution, with appropriate employment of regional reference architecture, Interfacing Technology standards, Infrastructure environment, broad Integration Strategy and Business Strategies.

+ The Solution Architect will also develop and/or review high level designs around integration in concert to deliver business solutions.

The Solution Architect will be the primary designer of the solution architecture required to support the assigned IT projects.



+ Working closely with Regional/Lead Architect to define the shared components in the end-to-end solution, and support Regional/Lead Architect on the transition from shared system components to shared service operation.

Accountabilities:

Performance improvement of the business applications

+ Analyze the pain points and bottlenecks

+ Understand the volumetrics, SLA and benchmark

+ Conceptualize solutions to improve performance

+ Design solution proposal or feasibility which may involve proof-of-concepts (POC)

+ Provide low-level design

+ Lead the development by performing review and resolving technical issues or challenges

+ Assist in the definition of performance exit criteria

+ Verify the results of the improvement and iterate enhancements (as necessary)

Modernization of business application

+ Lead the design of modernization (across the layers of technical architecture)

+ Align to the future or to-be architecture

+ Design the decoupled-architecture by separating UI/Presentation from the business process

+ Design integration with other strategic systems using OpenAPI

+ Design the transformation of business function as exposed business services (as OpenAPI) as necessary.

Support the general software development life cycle

+ Lead the design of architecture, services and components

+ Review and sign-off design

+ Lead and coordinate the implementation of the solution and integration

+ Support end-to-end SIT and UAT

+ Follow the tasks assigned by PM

+ Fix any issues found with vendor team and BU SMEs

Support production transition

+ Support PM to define production support team structure

+ Provide the full set of documents of BRD, solution, design and etc.

+ Lead the data integration operation manual and procedures with vendor and BU SME, and give it to production support team via PM.

Required Skills and Experiences

Educational Qualification

+ Bachelor of Science Degree – Computer Science or related field

Specific Qualifications

+ Speak English and Japanese

Total Experience

+ Minimum 5+years of experience in IT and minimum 2+ years of experience as a Solution Architect in software development projects.

+ Successful end-to-end software design and implementation experience

+ Good understanding of SDLC and should have experience in all the phases of SDLC

+ Financial Service Industry – Should have a good understanding of critical Insurance processes or willing to learn insurance operations and business processes

+ Knowledge of business process analysis and modeling: BPMN (create, read, interpret)

+ Knowledge of UML : User case (create, read, interpret)

+ Knowledge of data modeling: ERD, and DFD (create, read, interpret)

+ Knowledge of OpenAPI, JSON, REST, XML, WSDL, UDDI, General Web Services Technologies

+ High level understanding of infrastructure, database management technologies, and networking.

+ Experience and knowledge of the following:

+ J2EE Frameworks (Spring)

+ Portal Technologies (Apache, NGINX, Angular, JS, etc.)

+ Security standards

+ Cloud Technology (AWS and Azure)

+ Enterprise Integration technologies (BPM, ESB, MQ, etc.),

+ REST, SOA & Web Services implementation.
