Arizona State University is hiring: Faculty Associate in Music in Tempe Job Opening In Tempe – Now Hiring Arizona State University


Job description

The School of Music, Dance and Theatre music program on the Tempe campus at Arizona State University invites applications for Faculty Associates to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses online and/or on-campus in: music learning and teaching, music therapy, musicology, music theory, music performance, and in popular music, which might include applied instruction, ensemble direction, music product development, music production, and/or music industry.

These positions are one semester appointments, part time, non-benefits eligible with no tenure implications.

A typical Faculty Associate course load is one to two classes per semester.

Teaching duties include: preparing course materials, responding to and evaluating student work, and availability for one-on-one assistance.

Essential Functions

The successful candidate(s) will teach in-person or online courses, prepare course materials, evaluate student work, and assist students.

They are responsible for delivering course content through lectures, readings, discussions, and other teaching activities in accordance with the approved syllabus and academic standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 4 years of industry experience; a Master’s degree in relevant field, by time of appointment and 2 years of industry experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • MM/MFA or Ph.D. in relevant field by time of appointment
  • Professional experience and/or teaching in one or more of the identified disciplines
  • Minimum of two years of post-secondary teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate level
  • Knowledge of local and regional disciplinary ecosystem
  • Demonstrated experience developing curricula
  • Creative Activity/Scholarly research interests and achievement as demonstrated through performances, presentations and/or publications

Additional Information

Anticipated start date is: Fall 2025, session A, B and/or C.
