This is a part-time position and the incumbent must be willing to work on a flexible schedule.
Assist students with the development of ASL skill abilities that will support their academic goals.
May provide subject specific assistance, but primarily will assist students with developing ASL skills outside of class.
Design and develop learning activities to assist students in enhancing their ASL skills.
Assist in developing activities for Signfiy Club meetings and monitor the club’s activities.
Conduct language lab sessions for ASL classes.
Provide academic assistance to students who are taking ASL course either in a group or individually.
Report to the ASL/English Interpreting program (including coordinator) and other ASL instructor(s) as relevant.
Maintain lab attendance and submit weekly lab reports and evaluation requested by the instructor.
Create an atmosphere of respect and support with students and colleagues.
Serve as a role model for students to help them develop positive attitudes towards language learning.
Attend tutor training workshops and meetings with the ASL instructors.
Maintain confidentiality about student information and communication content, as appropriate to the program.
