Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, Computer Science Job Opening In Greensboro – Now Hiring North Carolina Agriculture & Technical State Unive

Description:
The primary responsibilities for this position include teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses, conducting research, student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, conducting scholarly activities and all other activities required for tenure.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, engaging in accreditation procedures, program assessment and service to the department, College and University as needed.

This is a 9-month tenure track position.

Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related discipline; and an academic record fitting the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
N.C. A&T is a public, land-grant, doctoral research institution and has been the largest historically Black university in the country for the past decade.

With an enrollment of 14,311 students in Fall 2024, the university offers 59 undergraduate degree programs, 36 master’s programs, and 12 doctoral programs.

It is America’s top producer of Black graduates in Engineering and Agricultural Science bachelor’s programs, as well as a top five producer in numerous additional disciplines, including Liberal Arts and Communications/Journalism.

It also ranks no.

3 in master’s degrees awarded to Black graduates in Engineering Technologies and Related Fields, no.

4 in master’s degrees in Engineering, and no.

11 best business school for women in the nation.



Nationally recognized for its leadership and excellence in STEM education and research, N.C. A&T is classified as “R2-High Research Activity” in the Carnegie Classifications and is poised to achieve “R1-Very High Research Activity” status.

The College of Engineering ( COE ), with over 2,500 students, has 5 Doctoral programs, 8 Masters of Science Degree programs, and EAC ABET accredited undergraduate programs in Architectural, Bio-, Biological, Civil, Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, and Mechanical Engineering, as well as a CAC ABET -accredited program Computer Science.

The College’s focus is on cultivating leaders who excel in academics, innovation, and research; where the 5 research cluster areas of the COE are Autonomous Systems, Cybersecurity and Resilience, Energy and Sustainability, Healthcare Applications and Complex Systems and Networks.

The Computer Science Department has 14 full-time faculty members and offers BS, MS and PhD degrees.

Current enrollment includes 500 BS, 81 MS, and 30 PhD students.

Faculty conduct research in such areas as cyber security and identity, big data, AI and machine learning, cloud computing, software engineering, visualization and multiagent systems.

Research and education funding has come from the NSF , DoD, and DoE, and corporations.

The department also leads the university’s Center for Cyber Defense, designated as a Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education and Cyber Defense Research by the NSA and the DHS .

The Computer Science Department also houses the Center for Trustworthy AI.

Requirements:
Ph.D. in Computer Science, or a closely related discipline; and an academic record fitting of the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank.

Preferred:
Applicants should have a strong research record or professional work experience in AI, Computer Vision, and Cyber Defense.

Preference will be given to those with a strong research background in Quantum Computing.
