SUNY Polytechnic Institute's College of Engineering's Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Full Professor of Biomedical Engineering.
The successful applicant will support the affiliated ABET accredited B.S. degree program that addresses national and regional workforce needs and offers our graduates excellent employment opportunities and grow graduate degree programs in Biomedical Engineering.
The department is expanding rapidly, with new master's programs underway and a Ph.D. program in development within the next two years, providing significant opportunities to shape graduate education.
This position offers the chance to play a key role in a young, vibrant, and fast-growing department, with strong expectations for collaboration with other faculty members on SUNY Poly's emerging interests in the four Pillar areas of SUNY Poly: Healthcare & Wellbeing; Materials, Robotics & Advanced Manufacturing; AI and Information Technology; and Smart Infrastructure and Sustainability.
The successful candidate will 1) Demonstrate a commitment to excellent teaching in the area of biomedical engineering and in the lower division engineering sciences, 2) Have a track record of outstanding academic and scholarly achievements in biomedical engineering, and 3) Will be able to develop an externally funded research program.
Preference will be given to candidates with research experience, teaching experience at the collegiate level and a strong background related to and capable of supporting SUNY Poly's emerging interests in engineering and the impact of engineering and STEM related work on modern society.
It would be expected that the successful candidate's research interests would complement the interests of existing engineering faculty at SUNY Poly.
Specific duties include:
+ Teach and develop curricula for a variety of undergraduate and graduate engineering courses in both lecture and laboratory settings.
Coursework would include biomedical engineering and lower division engineering science.
The candidate would be responsible for all aspects of the course including grading and assessment.
+ Develop an externally funded scholarly research program in biomedical engineering incorporating graduate and undergraduate students.
Funded programs that include academic, industry or government lab/agency collaborations are encouraged.
+ Advise undergraduate students and assist with a variety of student club activities.
+ Work with the engineering faculty to maintain ABET accreditation.
+ Serve the College and community through outreach activities.
During the first two years of the appointment, a reduced teaching load to include two classes per semester can be anticipated, providing an opportunity to establish a research program and develop courses.
+ Other responsibilities include contributing to the assessment and continued development of engineering courses and contributing to the university community through committee service and other activities.
+ Other reasonable duties as assigned.
Salary Range: Assistant Professor $90,000-$100,000 / Associate Professor $100,000-$110,000 / Full Professor $110,000+

Minimum Qualifications:
+ Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a related field with a specialty area of Biomedical, from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized organization and have a record of outstanding academic and scholarly achievements.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Postdoctoral experience with proven scholarship
