The Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services
Our Women's Shelter/Residence is currently conducting a search to hire for the position of Assistant Director due to an internal promotion!!!

This is a hands-on role where the AD is responsible for assisting the Program Director in managing the daily operations for the Ethel T.

Chamberlain Women's Residence.

They will work in partnership with all staff to maintain a safe, comfortable, clean and supportive environment for our clients during their stay at this Women's Shelter.

The employees who hold the position of Resident Assistant will report directly to the Assistant Director.

Responsibilities


+ Recruit, interview, and hire for open positions

+ Complete and review with employees any coaching, disciplinary, and/or evaluation documentation.


+ Conduct trauma-informed supervisions with employees.

+ Support and encourage team members and refer to additional resources, as appropriate.

+ Provide coverage for Program Director in event of their absence.

+ Responsible for assisting with the training and supporting of all employees, student interns and volunteers.



+ Complete monthly 24-hour schedule with all shifts covered.

Monitor payroll; keep track of benefit time.

+ Occasional flexing of schedule to provide direct, in-person supervision of staff on evening/night/weekend shifts.

+ Share in Leadership on-call responsibilities.

+ Monitor employees, interns, and volunteers in daily operations of the program.

Monitor employees’ completion of required trainings.

+ Address client concerns and train employees to address client concerns in an appropriate manner.

+ Oversee all job duties of employees, checking for accuracy and comprehensiveness.


+ Ensure compliance with all NYS OTDA Shelter Bureau standards, including licensing and operating requirements, maintaining facility safety and security standards, proper service delivery, through and organized documentation and files, and SMS Incident Reporting.



+ Process incident reports, including examining prevention strategies and following up with staff and clients.

+ Share in planning and facilitating monthly staff meeting with Program Director.

Record and distribute staff meeting minutes.

Attend and actively participate in monthly agency, department, and program leadership meetings.



+ Serve as a primary point of contact with local Dept of Social Services Housing Unit team.

+ Audit database for proper usage by program staff and data quality.

+ Understanding of OTDA, LDSS, OCFS, Agency, and Program regulations and policies to ensure continued compliance; participate in annual reviews as requested.

+ Oversee menu planning and food and supply inventory.

Report program purchasing needs and occasionally do program purchasing.

Submit financial documentation as required

+ Assist Program Director with yearly policy review and updates.

Assist Program Director with data collection as needed for program reports.



+ Represent the agency and program in a professional manner in the community and professional groups as assigned.
+ Qualifications


+ Bachelor degree in human services with previous experience in mental health or related services preferred (other combinations of education and experience will be considered)

+ Professional, salaried position includes expectation that a flexible work schedule will be maintained according to individual client needs including late afternoon/evening/weekend hours as needed.



+ Must have a valid NYS driver’s license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements

+ Must have access to private transportation during work and on-call hours.
