Objectives of this Role:
Manage a team of engineers and technicians performing applied research in various fields including applied fracture mechanics, fatigue, environment assisted cracking, and high temperature testing.Establish and implement strategic objectives and technical vision for program growth, expansion of business, quality and safety of operations, facilities enhancement, staff development and client cultivation.Maintain existing and develop new business through networking, customer engagement, strategic planning, and proposal writing. Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
Lead a team of project managers and their research project portfolios.Implement continuous professional development of the engineers, technicians, and administrative staff in the section.Conduct business development through networking, writing proposals, leading research, and building new business opportunities in emerging technologies related to a broad range of applications.Manage the execution and completion of research projects for a mix of government and commercial clients.Oversee the operation and maintenance of a mechanical testing laboratory and plan for capital equipment expenditures. Requirements:
Requires a Masters or a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar.5+ years: Engineering, program management, and/or personnel management experience.
Experience in a technical laboratory environment.Experience in leading and preparing successful technical and budgetary proposals.Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate complex information and employee performance management feedback.Desire to make a positive impact on the community through developing research aimed at solving complex problems for external clients.A valid/clear driver's license is required.
