Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics (ISBA) in the Ivy College of Business at Iowa State University welcomes applications for an assistant or associate, tenure/tenured position in Management Information Systems (MIS) and Business Analytics (BA) with an expected starting date in August 2026.
The MIS and BA faculty currently consists of twenty-five (25) tenured, tenure-track, or professionally qualified faculty members.
Primary responsibilities include research and teaching in information systems with an emphasis in artificial intelligence at the undergraduate, Master's, and Ph.D. levels.
The successful applicant will be expected to develop and maintain an outstanding MIS and BA research program in information systems and artificial intelligence.
The applicant is also expected to demonstrate strong teaching abilities in both online and in-person classes.
Effective communication with prospective and current students, industry personnel, and the wider community is essential to this position.
This position is open to candidates eligible for employment sponsorship.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
+ Ph.D. (or expected completion before August 2026) in information systems, business analytics, computer science, data science, or related field.
+ Demonstrated ability to produce scholarly research on AI, with potential for publication in the department’s top journals.
+ Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduates.
+ Candidates at the associate level need to have a record that meets the standards for tenure at Iowa State University.
+ Must meet the college’s standards to be Scholarly Academic Qualified under AACSB Accreditation standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ A record of publications in high-quality journals and papers presented at major conferences.
+ Significant AI research in progress that is targeted at top journals.
+ A record of external grants on AI research/education.
+ A record of high-quality teaching on AI.
+ Industry experience and professional certifications in AI.
+ For associate candidates, potential to contribute to the continued development of departmental Ph.D. students.

The Ivy College of Business at Iowa State University, established in 1984, further Iowa State University’s land-grant ideals by training students to be knowledgeable and ethical communicators, leaders, collaborators, and problem solvers through impactful research, innovative teaching, and community engagement.
The college offers undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. programs and is accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International).

They have been published in premier journals such as Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Journal of Management Information Systems, Management Science, and the Journal of the Association for Information Systems.
They serve or have served as editors, associate editors, and members of editorial boards for leading information systems journals.
ISBA faculty have active research projects in business analytics, cybersecurity, healthcare, IT strategy, artificial intelligence, and other IS and analytics areas.
The faculty collaborates with colleagues in the department, college, university, and profession.
Ph.D. students graduating from the ISBA department have been placed at schools such as Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Mississippi State, University of Alabama, University of Cincinnati, and Florida Atlantic University.
