The Mechanical Engineering Department at Montana Technological University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering with an ability to teach a broad selection of Mechanical Engineering classes.

The successful candidate must possess a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.

Given the broad nature of Mechanical Engineering, candidates will be expected to convey how their research specialty will further their ability to provide high-quality instruction and impactful research for school and society.

The candidate will be expected to teach service courses as needed and offer a regular set of classes within the department.

Candidates must demonstrate excellent English written and oral communication skills and have a strong commitment to teaching, research, and mentoring.

Promotion and tenure will require a Professional Engineering license in the United States.

Duties:

• Job responsibilities include teaching a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses within the Mechanical Engineering Department.


• Requirements include teaching service courses and courses specific to Mechanical Engineering.
• The person in this position must initiate and sustain a research program, including leadership of undergraduate and graduate students, and is expected to provide service to the department, campus, community, and profession.

Required Qualifications:

•   A PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline by position start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Industrial experience; Teaching experience; Excellent written/oral communication skills; Capability to obtain a PE license within four years of appointment.
