San Francisco State University, Computer Science Department in the College of Science and Engineering offers an exciting opportunity for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2026.
We seek a colleague whose teaching and research interests include Cybersecurity, Machine Learning/Generative AI, and/or Quantum Computing although candidates with research interests in other areas are also welcome to apply.

The Department of Computer Science at San Francisco State University is a thriving hub of innovation, excellence, and inclusivity.
Home to 15 tenured and tenure-track faculty, along with numerous adjuncts, lecturers, and teaching assistants, the department offers a vibrant academic environment that supports a diverse student body.
Our research and teaching span classical and cutting-edge domains, with primary strengths in: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Advanced Computational Technologies like HPC and Quantum Computing, Cybersecurity and privacy, and Computer Science Education.

Responsibilities: The position requires graduate and/or undergraduate teaching in established coursework, mentoring and advising graduate and/or undergraduate students, developing an active ongoing program of creative work in one’s area of specialty, and ongoing committee and service assignments.
Compensation:
The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is:
$113,000 to $116,000 annually (12 monthly payments per academic year).
Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
In addition, the California Equal Pay Act prohibits employers from paying its employees less than those of the opposite sex and/or another race or ethnicity for substantially similar work ().
Professional development funds, moving expenses, start-up funds, and a reduced teaching load may be available.
