Position Overview
The Department of Political Science at The Ohio State University invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of assistant professor.
Successful applicants will have research and teaching interests in any of the following areas: the regulatory, political, or ethical challenges of the burgeoning reliance on AI in the public and/or private sectors; the social and political consequences of reliance on algorithmic approaches to public policy implementation; methodological development at the intersection of social science and AI/machine learning.
Based in Columbus, Ohio, the position will begin in August of 2026.
Preferred applicants will demonstrate the potential for a sustained and substantial body of work focusing on one or more of these areas.
The position is open with respect to substantive focus or disciplinary subfield in Political Science.
This position is part of the investment of The Ohio State University Provost in the Department of Political Science in Socio-Political Analysis and AI: .
Successful candidates will join with a series of successful hires focused on political methodology around the development of AI tools for social science research and will provide a strong possibility for cross-unit grant collaboration.

: Applicants must complete their PhD on or before August 15, 2026, in a relevant field, and have the capacity to integrate methodological insights with substantive research demonstrated through a record of and/or promise of scholarly excellence.

Preferred candidates will show a willingness to participate in interdisciplinary collaborative efforts.
