Faculty Responsibilities
In addition to teaching and scholarship, faculty are expected to engage in service to the University, profession, and community.

During the first two years of the probationary period the instructional assignment will be reduced by two courses per academic year for probationary faculty members, in order to assist in establishing their programs of research, scholarship, and/or creative activities, and carrying out other activities that would support them in meeting the requirements for retention, tenure, and promotion..

The Department
The Engineering & Computer Science Department offers a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree with 250 majors, as well as a minor in computer science.
The five tenured and tenure-track CS faculty have areas of expertise that span theoretical as well as applied areas of computer science.
Our Bachelor of Science in Computer Science program is rooted in the proud tradition of a liberal arts education and is based on the IEEE/ACM Computer Science Curricula.
Teaching excellence and mentoring students are central to our mission.
We are committed to expanding and diversifying participation for groups traditionally underrepresented in computer science, and we strongly encourage faculty candidates with similar goals and relevant experience to apply.
We promote close collaboration of faculty and students that leads to research projects that are worthy of publication, as well as software system projects with research and industrial applications.

Duties of the Position
The successful candidate will teach computer science courses across our Bachelor of Science curriculum, offer upper-division electives in their areas of expertise, demonstrate potential for a sustained research career, and actively foster an undergraduate research program.
Collaborating with professionals in industry and seeking external funding are strongly encouraged.
Teaching excellence is an important cornerstone of this position.
In addition to teaching and scholarship, faculty are expected to engage in academic advising, to assist the department with program revision, and to serve on department, College, and campus-wide committees.

Required Qualifications
To be recommended for appointment, the candidate must have:
a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field.
The degree must be completed by August 2026.a demonstrated commitment to teaching and scholarship at the undergraduate level.a commitment to working as part of a team, educating a diverse student body. Candidates for this position are not eligible for tenure on hire and may receive at most two years of service credit towards tenure.
These conditions are non-negotiable.
All research areas will be considered.
Candidates should be able to teach a broad range of courses across the computer science curriculum.
Rank and Salary
Service credit depends upon academic preparation and professional experience.
The anticipated salary range for this position is: $95,000 to $105,000.
