Assistant Professor in Cultural Neuroscience, Developmental Neuroscience, or Clinical Neuroscience Location: Swarthmore, Pennsylvania Open Date: Sep 10, 2025 DescriptionThe Swarthmore College Department of Psychology announces a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin in the fall semester, 2026.

We seek a neuroscientist with specialization in cultural, developmental, or clinical neuroscience.

Competitive candidates will have both 1) a strong commitment to teaching and 2) an active research program that can engage diverse and talented undergraduates.

Teaching responsibilities may include intermediate and advanced undergraduate courses in the candidate’s area of specialization, a research practicum, supervision of student research projects, research methods, and introductory psychology.

A teaching load is two courses each semester.

Candidates at a more advanced stage may be considered though our primary focus is at the Assistant Professor level.

The candidate will have independent research and office spaces in the College’s new Singer Hall ([https://www.swarthmore.edu/facilities-management/maxine-frank-singer-hall](https://www.swarthmore.edu/facilities-management/maxine-frank-singer-hall)), which houses the Biology, Engineering, and Psychology Departments.

They will also have access to shared departmental resources including a state-of-the-art EEG lab with multiple systems.

Must have Ph.D. in hand by August 2026.

Some teaching experience is preferred.

Competitive candidates will use neuroscience methods to explore psychological questions.

The teaching statement should describe the applicant’s interests in teaching at an undergraduate institution, previous teaching experience, and approach to teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds.

The research statement should describe the applicant’s program of research (including research interests, recent and current research, and anticipated areas for future work) and its potential to engage undergraduate students.

Relevant experience mentoring students in empirical research should be described in the teaching and/or research statement.
