Position Description
TheIngram School of Engineering (https://www.engineering.txstate.edu/) of Texas State University has launched a newMechanical Engineering program (https://www.engineering.txstate.edu/programs/mechanical.html) that incorporates Industry 4.0 tools and technologies throughout the curriculum to prepare students who can design and develop mechanical and thermal systems that are intelligent, interconnected, and integrated with the virtual world and emerging digital infrastructures.

Currently, the program seeks to fill three tenure-track positions in control systems and robotics at the Assistant Professor level to begin Fall 2026.

The successful candidates will be expected to establish an externally funded research program in their areas of expertise, exhibit a strong commitment to student-centered teaching and mentoring at undergraduate and graduate levels, participate in curriculum and program development, and perform university and professional service.

Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and/or Digital Twins.

Required Qualifications

+ An earned Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline.

+ Academic and research background in control systems and robotics.

+ Research competence evidenced by publications related to control systems and robotics in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings.

+ Demonstrated excellence in communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

+ Expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and/or Digital Twins.

+ Postdoctoral and/or industrial experience.

+ Record of teaching experience in the US.

+ An ability to work collaboratively with faculty across multiple departments and programs.

+ Knowledge about ABET accreditation procedures and deliverables.

+ Demonstrated experience writing and securing grants and contracts.
