Description of Work Unit
The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition has 20 faculty members and 23 research associates and administrative staff, ~600 undergraduate majors in nutrition, dietetics, food science and hospitality event management, Fermentation Science & Technology, 70 M.S. graduate students, and 14 Ph.D. students.

Department research is supported by federal grants from NIH and the USDA , as well as foundations and industry, and two endowments that support a faculty chair and the Lillian Fountain-Smith Nutrition Conference hosted by the department each year.

Research has focused on, community nutrition among limited resource audiences, molecular and metabolic nutrition targeted at chronic disease prevention, bioactive food components, and food safety.

The department’s Extension faculty is responsible for numerous creative, high impact educational and engagement programs throughout the state.

The department offers an accredited B.S. dietetics program and an M.S. coordinated dietetic internship program.

With the overall growth in the department, there has also been growing faculty and student enrollment.

The department especially encourages those to apply who are eager to teach, conduct research, and advise in an environment committed to overall community.

Position Summary
The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition seeks applications throughout the year from individuals who are interested in obtaining temporary, non-tenure track teaching positions within the department.

+ Assistant Professor appointment, a Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline is required.


Preferred Job Qualifications

+ One or more years university-level teaching and research experience.
