JOB TITLE: 

Assistant Professor – Nuclear Science/Engineering

JOB PURPOSE: 

The Department of Mechanical Engineering and the School of Energy Resources at the University of Wyoming invites applications for a tenure-track position in nuclear engineering, broadly defined.

Individuals with research interests in any relevant areas are encouraged to apply, including reactor/nuclear physics, advanced energy systems, reactor thermal hydraulics, advanced computational methods, or materials science relevant to nuclear applications.

The position will be filled at the Assistant Professor level and candidates must hold a .

or equivalent with postdoctoral experience highly desirable.

The successful candidate will be expected to excel in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish a nationally-recognized research program with significant external funding support, and contribute to departmental and university-wide governance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and oversee an externally-funded research program of significant relevance to nuclear engineering.

Teach undergraduate and graduate coursework.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:  

Carry out necessary service to their home department.

COMPETENCIES:  

Ability to develop coursework and teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Ability to design, securing funding for, and mentor students in the execution of research projects related to nuclear engineering.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
