The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology supports the University of Cincinnati Medical Center (UCMC), West Chester Hospital (WCH), University of Cincinnati Cancer Center (UCCC), and the Cincinnati Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The Division collaborates with the BMT program, an Experimental Therapeutics program, a Hemophilia Center, a Sickle Cell Disease Center and supports the 9 clinical centers of excellence of the UC Cancer Center.

Research labs provide venues for translational studies.

In addition, ample opportunities exist on campus for access to resources in immunobiology, laboratory medicine, transfusion medicine, cell mediated therapy and cancer biology at the University of Cincinnati Medical College, the Hoxworth Blood Center and the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is seeking a MD academic clinician to work with the Hepatology Section and work with the Luminal GI service lines in a collaborative manner within and across divisions and departments in the medical center.

The individual selected will have patient care responsibilities including, but not limited to, outpatient clinic, inpatient hospital service, inpatient hospital consults, and endoscopy laboratory procedures.

The individual will be assigned a pro rata amount of weekend/holiday/night call in accordance with division policies.

This will be a teaching position and have the opportunity for research based on interest in credentials.

This position is supported by dedicated advanced practice providers and administrative staff.

Compensation is highly competitive with the opportunity for incentives based on clinical and/or academic productivity.

Essential Functions

  • Engaging in fellow and resident teaching, including precepting fellow clinics, leading resident and fellow didactic lectures as part of inpatient rounding, and leading journal club topics for fellows and residents.

  • Participating in or initiating research projects, including participating in ongoing clinical trials, initiating new clinical trials through federal or industry means, and mentoring fellows in clinical research projects and the submission of research materials to national conferences and peer reviewed journal.

  • Minimum Requirements

  • MD/DO or equivalent.

  • State of Ohio Medical License.

  • Completion of a 3- year internal medicine residency.

  • Completion of a 3-year Gastroenterology fellowship or Hepatology fellowship from an accredited fellowship program.

  • Additional Qualifications Considered


    Board eligible or Board-certified Gastroenterologist/Hepatologist.
