POSTING INFORMATION Internal Title Assistant Professor of Exercise Science Position Type Tenure-track School/Area School of Health Sciences Department Department of Public Health Sciences and Administration Position Description The College of Charleston invites qualified applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Applied Exercise Science Department to teach, conduct research, and provide campus and professional community service.
The is housed within the recently formed and expanding
School of Health Sciences that also offers undergraduate degrees in Public Health and Health Services Administration and Management and a Fitness and Health Community Testing Program.
The successful candidate would work alongside 8 full-time teacher-scholars that serve nearly 400 undergraduate exercise science majors.

Applicants mustpossess an earned PhD degree in exercise physiology or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution before the January 2026 start date.
Applicants must exhibit an ability to teach undergraduate-level students with the promise for teaching excellence.
We are specifically seeking individuals who can teach in the areas of assessment and exercise prescription, exercise physiology, exercise nutrition, as well as special and clinical exercise populations with additional courses that match professional expertise.
Applicants should show scholarly promise through authorship on professional presentations and peer-reviewed publications in relevant journals.
Preference will be given to those with a record of undergraduate teaching and mentoring students through the research process, and an ability to demonstrate active learning techniques in a higher education setting.
