Position Description
TheDepartment of Communication Studies (https://www.commstudies.txst.edu/) at Texas State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Interpersonal Communication.

Candidates’ teaching and research expertise should include interpersonal communication and quantitative research methods.

This tenure-track position will involve teaching, research, and service responsibilities.

Employment will begin in August 2026.

Required Qualifications

+ PhD in Communication Studies or a Communication-related field.

+ Prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate quantitative research methods.

+ Evidence of specialization and preparedness to teach interpersonal communication, including related interpersonal topics (e.g., relational communication, family communication).

+ Demonstrated record of departmental, university, professional, and community service.


Preferred Qualifications

+ Evidence of sustained and impactful scholarship.

+ Experience or potential for external grant funding.

+ Evidence of dedication to professional and/or instructional development (e.g., teaching workshops, involvement in professional organizations).

+ Prepared to teach, mentor, and conduct service in multiple modalities, especially face-to-face, but also in hybrid and online.
