Assistant Professor of Music Education (String)

The School of Music at Texas State University seeks an engaging, creative, collaborative, and dedicated teacher/scholar to serve as a tenure-line Assistant Professor of Music Education with a specialization in string music education.

Duties begin August 2026.

The Successful Candidate Will Be Expected To

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in string music education and other topics according to the candidate’s qualifications and needs of the School of Music.
  • Supervise student teachers and graduate-level capstone projects.
  • Maintain a record of scholarly activity and make substantive professional contributions to the field of music education.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and service activities, including recruitment.
  • Possible leadership role as a master teacher or director with the TXST String Project.
  • Other duties assigned by the Director of the School of Music.
