Job description

The Department of Psychology at the University of Virginia invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Psychology, General Faculty, beginning August 2026.

We are seeking applicants with a license in Clinical Psychology.

This is a three-year, tenure-ineligible appointment with the possibility but not the guarantee of renewal.

Responsibilities will include teaching three courses _or their equivalent_ per semester, including classes in **Abnormal Psychology and related undergraduate offerings.** The applicant should also be prepared to provide graduate clinical training and supervision, and take on leadership roles in the psychology department’s Mary Ainsworth in-house training clinic (these clinical training and leadership roles may be used to fulfill equivalent teaching requirements, as appropriate).

**Minimum Qualifications.** To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, applicants should hold a PhD in clinical psychology and a clinical license in the state of Virginia by August 2026.

In addition, experience providing clinical training and supervision to graduate students is required.

**Preferred Qualifications.** Experience teaching Abnormal Psychology, experience in administrative leadership roles, and experience providing clinical practicum support is preferred.
