The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in auditory neuroscience, with a preferred focus on amplification and/or cochlear implants.
The appointment will begin in Fall 2026.
Duties will include research, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in audiology/hearing science, mentoring graduate students, and serving the Department, College, University, profession, and community.
The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences is housed within the , which was ranked #3 in the 2025 QS World University Rankings.
Both the Department and College offer robust research support, providing substantial resources and a collaborative environment that fosters innovation and discovery.
Faculty benefit from comprehensive pre- and post-award support for external funding and have opportunities to engage with Moody College’s dynamic research centers and institutes.
The Department also maintains strong interdisciplinary ties with the broader neuroscience community at UT Austin, including collaborations with the Department of Neuroscience, Dell Medical School, and the Cockrell School of Engineering.
Faculty in the Department lead multiple federally funded research and training grants.
The Department serves approximately 360 undergraduate students and more than 100 graduate students, including 18 PhD students, and operates an on-site speech and hearing clinic that provides student training and clinical services.
The Department is CAA-accredited, offers programs leading to BS, MS, AuD, and Ph.D. degrees, and has top-ranked academic programs in speech, language, and hearing sciences.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in audiology, hearing science, or a related area at the time of appointment.
Candidates must have a promising research program and a record of publication, a commitment to teaching, and an interest in student mentorship.
A clinical certification in Audiology (CCC-A) is welcome but not essential for consideration.
