The Department of Mathematics at Rowan University seeks to hire non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor in mathematics or closely related fields.

This is a unique opportunity to join one of the most dynamic departments at the third fastest-growing public research institution, as recognized by The Chronicle of Higher Education.


We seek candidates who are passionate about teaching undergraduate and graduate students.

In addition to teaching responsibilities, successful candidates are expected to make meaningful and substantive service contributions to the department, college, and university.

Successful candidates are expected to engage in professional development to stay current in their content area and evidence-based instructional approaches.


The non-tenure-track Assistant Teaching Professor is a 10-month full-time role.

Successful candidates will teach 24 credits over two semesters, with an option to teach overload and summer classes for additional compensation.

Teaching Professor positions are renewable, with expectations for renewal of two, three, four, and five years per contract.


Eligibility:

  • A Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related discipline, is expected.

    Candidates with a master's degree and extensive professional experience may be considered.

  • Evidence of excellence in teaching

  • Ideal candidates are exceptional educators, preferably with expertise in mathematics who work well in student and faculty teams and have excellent communication skills.

  • NOTE: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US, and the university will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position. 
  • Complete applications will include:

  • A current detailed CV

  • Statement of teaching philosophy and interests that includes the overview of the candidate’s commitment to effective teaching and mentoring practices

    The Department of Mathematics is one of six departments in the College of Science & Mathematics, which also houses the School of Earth & Environment.

    The department offers the following undergraduate and graduate programs:

  • B.S. in Mathematics

  • B.A. in Mathematics

  • M.A. in Mathematics

  • B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. Data Science
  • The Department of Mathematics is in a unique and exciting position.

    We are expanding and launching critical programs based on industry needs, such as our newly launched BS in Data Science.

    Additionally, the introduction of a Ph.D. in Data Science has accelerated the evolution of our research culture, opening up new avenues for collaborations and funding.

    The department also serves a core role, serving all students at Rowan University.

    With the university’s student enrollment rapidly growing and the growth of STEM related programs, our department is centrally positioned.
