The Kean Skylands campus, located in Jefferson Township, New Jersey, is designed to serve as an outdoor living laboratory for field-based scientific study and other classroom and field instruction.
Kean faculty members are recognized for teaching distinction, scholarship and service.

Faculty positions are ten-month, full-time, tenure-track assignments at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, effective for the fall 2025 semester.
Teaching assignments may be assigned at any of Kean’s New Jersey locations – Union, Ocean, Princeton, Skylands or for Kean Online and may include day, evening and weekend courses.
Evening hours are required based on department needs for teaching evening courses and for most graduate course assignments.
All tenure-track faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and an on-going program of research and publication or creative and performance activity.
Participation in curriculum development, student advisement and service at the departmental, college, university and community level is required.
Proficiency in a Learning Management System is also required, consistent with University guidelines.
College of Health Professions and Human Services, Department of Counselor Education
Counselor Education – to teach courses in the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) accredited Master’s degree Clinical Mental Health Counseling, College Counseling & Student Services, and School Counseling options, and Addictions, and the Ph.D. in Counseling and Supervision, in addition to research expectations and dissertation advising at the Kean Ocean campus.
The department is seeking faculty with the ability to provide students with a broad-based graduate education in counseling that is sensitive to cultural, gender and sexual orientation differences and committed to lifelong self-exploration and professional development.
Qualifications: Doctorate degree in Counseling/Counselor Education and Supervision or meets 2013 CACREP “grandfathering” criteria is required.
An earned Doctoral degree in a related mental health area will also be considered.
Current New Jersey licensure as a Counselor or license eligibility in the State of New Jersey; 2-5 years post-Master’s degree clinical practice; strong counselor identity; and professional association involvement is also required.
Supervision credentialing or eligibility is preferred.
Candidates must have an established and active independent research record that supports publication in peer reviewed journals or publication venues appropriate for the discipline and a strong agenda for future research.
ABD candidates will be considered with degree completion by September 1, 2025.

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Law, the negotiated annual salary range for this position is: $85,675.06 to $99,949.25 (Steps 5-9).
Salaries for internal applicants will be based on union negotiated calculations.
This position may also be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, a retirement plan and benefits for work life balance.
