Job description

George Fox University announces a full-time, teaching-track (non-tenure) faculty position in Civil Engineering, to begin in August 2025.

We seek applicants with the ability to teach in a broad range of undergraduate civil engineering courses, giving priority to candidates with expertise in one or more of the following specializations: geotechnical, construction and/or transportation engineering.

In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to engage in appropriate professional activities, supervise internships, advise students and carry out other faculty responsibilities.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching a broad range of undergraduate courses within the curriculum of the Department of Mechanical, Civil and Biomedical Engineering in areas such as geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, construction management, surveying, AutoCAD/Civil3D and engineering economics.

    Other potential courses include senior design, mechanics of materials and/or fluid mechanics.
  • Developing and sustaining ongoing industry/professional relations, applied projects and internship experiences for undergraduates.
  • Participating in the work of the department and university including university committees as needed.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect, appreciation and humility.
  • Other duties as assigned.

We're looking for candidates who have:

  • A master's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field combined with professional experience in civil engineering.

  • Ability to demonstrate excellence in teaching.

  • A commitment to the University's .
  • A desire to work with a diverse community of students and employees who represent various cultures, backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities, political views, and expressions of Christian faith.
  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church.

Preference will be given to those who have the following attributes:

  • A registered P.E. in Civil Engineering.

  • Teaching experience at the college level.


Salary and rank:

  • Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is anticipated, though candidates with significant teaching experience at previous institutions may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.
