The CU Boulder Paul M.
Rady Department of Mechanical Engineering invites applications for a full-time Teaching Faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor.
This position is based in Gunnison, Colorado, as part of our Engineering Partnership Program with Western Colorado University.
We are targeting a Fall 2026 start, but start date is negotiable.
We seek an educator who is committed to excellence in undergraduate engineering education and to fostering a welcoming and inclusive learning environment in Gunnison, CO.
Courseload for this position would span the Mechanical Engineering upper division undergraduate curriculum, which emphasizes hands-on and project-based learning.
Future teaching opportunities may also arise with courses in Aerospace Engineering and/or Biomedical Engineering.
The selected candidate will also engage in service and leadership roles at the university and within the community.
This is a non-tenure track appointment and may be renewable.
This position is anticipated to be hired at the Assistant Teaching Professor rank; however, qualified candidates may be considered at the Associate Teaching Professor or Teaching Professor rank.
The position will report to the Chair of the Paul M.
Rady Department of Mechanical Engineering.

**What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be**
+ Teaching undergraduate courses in mechanical engineering, including both lecture and laboratory components.
+ Engagement in service and/or leadership roles within the department, the university, or the local community.
+ The typical distribution of work for this role is 80% teaching and 20% leadership and service.
+ Contributing to creating a welcoming environment for all students.
+ The selected candidate will be offered a multi-year contract that may be renewable; the specific term length will vary based on the start date.

_Assistant Teaching Professor:_
+ Candidate must have earned a doctorate degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field.
Or
+ Candidate must have earned a master's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field with either:
+ At least three years of experience working in a related industry, or
+ A minimum of 3 years of teaching mechanical engineering or a closely related field at a higher education level.
_Associate Teaching Professor:_
+ For a candidate to be considered for appointment to the Associate Teaching Professor rank, the applicant must meet the criteria for Associate Teaching Professor and have an additional six years of teaching experience at a higher education level.
_Full Teaching Professor:_
+ For a candidate to be considered for appointment to the Full Teaching Professor rank, the applicant must meet the criteria for Associate Teaching Professor and have an additional three years of teaching experience at a higher education level.
+ Candidates must also demonstrate a record of distinction and meet unit criteria at this rank.
