The Department of Chemical Engineering at Stanford University invites applications for a university tenure-track (UTL) faculty position at the junior level (Assistant or untenured Associate Professor).
We will consider applicants knowledgeable in the general area of Chemical Engineering science.
While we give the highest priority to the overall originality and promise of the candidate's work, particular areas of interest in this search include:
- Computational Chemistry and Catalysis
- Energy Storage and Conversion Technologies
- Sustainable Processes and Environmental Engineering
- Advanced Materials for Energy and Catalysis
- Fluid Mechanics and Transport Phenomena
- Artificial Intelligence in Chemical Engineering
- Advanced Manufacturing Techniques
- Atmospheric and Environmental Studies
Applicants must have completed, or be completing, a Ph.D. in the engineering field in which they apply their work, or a closely related one.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach both graduate and undergraduate courses, develop advanced graduate courses in their research specialty, and establish a world-class research program focused on the fundamental aspects of chemical engineering science.
Applicants should be eager to engage in a stimulating interdisciplinary environment that fosters both teaching and research.
We anticipate that the faculty member will take on leadership roles and foster collaborations among faculty not only within the Department of Chemical Engineering but also across other departments in the School of Engineering.
Additionally, we expect involvement with departments such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Statistics, and Applied Physics within the School of Humanities and Sciences.
Collaboration opportunities also exist with the Doerr School of Sustainability, as well as with Civil and Environmental Engineering in both the Schools of Engineering and Sustainability.
Furthermore, the successful candidate may engage with the School of Medicine and the Bioengineering program in the Schools of Engineering and Medicine, as well as with the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory and National Accelerator Laboratory.
Applications should include a resume, brief statements of research and teaching interests (3-5 pages total for both combined), and the names and e-mail addresses of 3-5 references.
We will request letters of recommendation after candidates are reviewed and shortlisted.

The expected base pay range for this position is:
Assistant Professor: $141,247- $159,910
Associate Professor (untenured): $152,547 - $191,506
This base pay range is for a nine-month academic appointment and does not include summer salary.
