Associate Director of Development, Corporate and Foundation Relations



Job description

Key Responsibilities



  • Actively partner with CFR Directors to expand corporate giving channels through coordinated outreach strategies

  • Manage to annual goals for fundraising outcomes based on established metrics

  • Develop and execute sound strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward funders

  • Initiate contact, execute appropriate and timely actions for solicitation and closure.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in Annual Giving, Planned Giving, Alumni Association, and Development

  • Actively manage a prospect/funder portfolio with annual goals for fundraising outcomes based on established metrics

  • Work collaboratively with SJSU student organizations, alumni, and companies to increase sponsorship funding opportunities

  • Monitor strategic corporate business priorities, corporate social responsibility initiatives, talent needs, existing university partnerships, CFR trends and best practices, then report for ongoing CFR team awareness

  • Assist campus departments and colleagues with external stakeholder engagement

  • Collaborate with stewardship colleagues with donor stewardship efforts particularly pertaining to assigned college/unit/project and help promote a culture of gratitude among internal and external constituents

  • Draft correspondence to organizations and external stakeholders

  • Gather data and prepare funding briefs and reports in response to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders

  • Plan and implement logistics for meetings, visits, and convenings with funders

  • Participate in staff, functional and strategy meetings including prospect review sessions, and attend conferences, seminars, and other development training as feasible and appropriate

  • Support administrative functions of corporate and foundation relations and grant administration

  • Engage in campus and college activities relevant to the fundraising mission for the University

  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite and ability to utilize fundraising database programs, and learn new tech platforms for project management

  • Ability to be flexible

  • Excellent customer service skills and public relations

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of fundraising in higher education

  • Ability to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward funding prospects

  • Ability to develop and implement effective fundraising strategies

  • Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and other constituents


 


Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or a combination of education and experience

  • One year of higher education, alumni engagement, development, or not for profit experience

  • Experience working independently and as part of team


 


Preferred Qualifications



  • SJSU Alum

  • Excellent written communication skills

  • Higher Education fundraising or similar alumni or development experience

  • Basic understanding of fundraising principles and best practice


 


Compensation


Classification: Administrator I
Anticipated Hiring Range: $7,350/month - $7,668/month
CSU Salary Range: $4,135/month - $12,288/month


The final hiring salary will be commensurate with experience.



San José State University offers employees a comprehensive benefits package typically worth 30-35% of your base salary.
