Position Announcement
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Oregon (chemistry.uoregon.edu) invites applications for a tenured faculty position in electrochemistry/materials chemistry, broadly defined.

We seek a colleague to lead a vigorous research program and participate with faculty and staff in the Oregon Center for Electrochemistry (OCE,https://electrochemistry.uoregon.edu/).

The OCE is a hub for fundamental and applied electrochemistry research and hosts the Electrochemistry Masters Internship Program as well as unique training for PhD students.

In addition, the University of Oregon advanced materials characterization (https://camcor.uoregon.edu/) and Materials Science Institute (https://materialscience.uoregon.edu/) provide substantial support and an intellectual nexus for interdisciplinary materials research at the University of Oregon.

We seek candidates with leadership experience to expand collaborative research projects between universities, national laboratories, and industry partners, and a demonstrated commitment to mentoring and innovative scientific training.


Department or Program Summary
The UO Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers undergraduate major and minor degrees in chemistry and biochemistry, and graduate degrees at the masters and PhD level.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have a PhD in Chemistry or a related discipline in addition to:
• Evidence of successful mentoring of trainees at any level (e.g., undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate, postdoctoral, peers).
• Record of research excellence appropriate to career stage, such as peer-reviewed publications and extramural funding.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering an environment of belonging, as evidenced through research, teaching, mentoring, or service.


Preferred Qualifications
• A nationally recognized track record of scientific achievement as evidenced by an outstanding publication record and other appropriate external indicators relevant to the individual’s seniority in the field.
• Experience working in complex, multi-stakeholder environments with the ability to build successfully at multiple interfaces (e.g., across colleges and departments, between universities and industry, etc.).
• Demonstrated experience with large government agencies, foundations, industry, and philanthropy with a thorough understanding of funding opportunities and pathways, and strategies to successfully attract funding sufficient for the individual’s research program and ambitions as relevant to the individual’s seniority in the field.
• Demonstrated commitment to translating research discoveries into societal impacts.
• Demonstrated success in a pedagogical environment using evidence-based pedagogical methods.
• Demonstrated service contributions and leadership in academia, research societies, government, and/or industry relevant to the individual’s seniority in the field.
