The USC Institute for Technology and Medical Systems (ITEMS) is a joint Keck-Viterbi initiative to bridge engineering and medicine to bring about fundamental advances in the general fields of bioengineering, electronic systems, and neuroscience.

ITEMS is currently seeking exceptional candidates for theAssociate Professorto join the dynamic team with a focus on design of behavioral experimentation and analysis of cognition, implantable neurotechnologies to modulate neural networks, multielectrode technologies for recording and stimulation, technologies to interrogate and modulate neural circuits underlying cognition.


The candidate’s job responsibilities and accountabilities surround the sustainability of extramurally funded research programs.

A successful candidate will have experience in designing, submitting, executing, and managing his/her own proposed projects.

This individual will also have a strong background in conducting research studies and possesses the abilities to translate measurements and associated data to publish peer-reviewed manuscripts, develop grant applications and deliver technical presentations at meetings within and outside of the university.

Preferred Education:

+ Ph.D. in Neuroscience or relevant field;

+ MD


Preferred Experience:


+ Neural interface device technology

+ Neurorecording technologies

+ Multielectrode arrays


+ Behavioral experimentation

+ Technologies to interrogate and modulate neural circuits underlying cognition


The annual base salary range for this position is $200,000-$240,000.
