Job description

The theoretical physics group in the Science Division of New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit an Associate Research Scientist to work on theoretical cosmology including string cosmology and the study of fundamental sources of gravitational waves.

The successful applicant will drive independent research on the main open questions facing theoretical cosmology and support research of young postdoctoral fellows and graduate students.

The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students.

Applicants must have at least 5 years of research experience after a PhD in theoretical physics and a proven solid record of publications and conference presentations in the field.

The terms of employment are very competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children.

Applications will be accepted immediately and candidates will be considered until the position is filled.

To be considered, all applicants must submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, transcript of degree, a one-page summary of research accomplishments and interests, and at least 2 letters of recommendation from established scientists in the field, all in PDF format.

The position can start immediately after February 3 2026 and is for an original period of 3 years, renewable to another 3 depending on performance and availability of funds.
