                Audio Visual Design Engineer (Corporate Office Environments) Location: Washington, DC Metro Area (Hybrid) Industry: Architecture & Technology Integration Employment Type: Full-Time About the Role: Our client is a forward-thinking design firm that specializes in fusing workplace architecture with modern AV and smart technology.
They are seeking an Audio Visual Design Engineer to help bridge the gap between architectural design and cutting-edge workplace technology.
This individual will play a pivotal role in developing intelligent, collaborative, and future-ready environments by integrating audio-visual and IT systems into architectural plans.
Key Responsibilities: Collaborate on the planning and design of workplaces with integrated AV, IT, and smart building systems.
Create design documentation, drawings, and specifications for AV and workplace technologies including conference rooms, digital signage, and collaboration tools.
Coordinate with consultants, vendors, and project teams to ensure cohesive and seamless technology integration.
Participate in client meetings, offering insight into AV/tech trends and system integration strategies.
Review architectural and MEP drawings to align infrastructure requirements.
Conduct site visits during construction phases to confirm implementation accuracy.
Requirements Qualifications: Bachelors or Masters degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or a related field.
37 years of experience in architectural design, with a focus on workplace and technology integration.
Experience in Commercial Office Furniture Systems (planning, integration, or coordination).
Solid understanding of AV systems such as video conferencing, sound masking, and collaboration tech.
Skilled in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Ability to interpret technical AV/IT system drawings and documentation.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
CTS certification or an interest in obtaining AV/IT-related credentials is a plus.
Bonus Points For: Familiarity with WELL, LEED, or other sustainability frameworks.
Knowledge of workplace IoT and smart building systems.
Exposure to acoustics, lighting, or environmental controls.

Infocomm CTS certification (within 6 months of employment start) & CTS-I within 12 months Maintain and/or acquire OSHA 10 Hr construction within 3 months from employment start.
