Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Automation Controls Technician - 2nd Shift join our team on Badger Dr. in Waukesha, WI!

The hourly rate for this position is $28.25 per hour + $2.50 per hour shift premium.

The core hours are 3 pm - 11 pm.

Overtime may exceed these hours and be mandatory at times.

Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

**This position is offering a sign-on bonus of $2,000*, paid in two installments, less applicable withholding** .

**What you’ll do:**

The Controls & Automation Technician supports the Controls Engineering Team by acting as the lead troubleshooter for down equipment.

When not troubleshooting the Controls & Automation Technician will assist Controls Engineers with project tasks.

**In this function, you will** :

+ Support the Controls Engineering Team by acting as the first responder for troubleshooting requests on down equipment.
+ Use electrical, mechanical, and software-based tools to assist maintenance with troubleshooting tasks and evaluate if the problem is significant enough to require further intervention from controls or design engineering.
+ Assist Controls Engineers with the completion of large capital projects.

Tasks may involve setup of new PLC and drive systems, procurement of materials needed for the project and assistance with creating or reviewing electrical and mechanical drawings.
+ Participate in deep-dive investigations to determine the root cause of persistent issues with plant equipment.

Investigations will often involve multifunctional teams and utilize common problem-solving tools such as 5-Why, 8D and fishbone charts.

**Qualifications:**

**Required (Basic) Qualifications:**

+ Completion of a High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
+ One of the below is required:
+ Minimum of 1 year experience with PLC, HMI programming, and safety systems design **AND** a Minimum of 1 year of experience using Rockwell Software (RS and Factory Talk, RSLogix 5, RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View ME, FactoryTalk SE, VB6
+ **AND/OR** Current enrollment OR completion of an Associate's Degree in Automated Systems Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Controls, or a related field from an accredited institution
+ Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.
+ No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.

Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the work location will be considered.

Active-duty military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Experience with NI LabVIEW and NI TestStand
+ Previous Controls Technician experience
+ Experience in electrical testing, procedures, and protocols

**Skills:**

+ Ability to understand problem-solving methodologies used in determining root cause and formulating corrective action(s) - i.e. thought maps, 8D, root cause analysis, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, control charts, Pareto charts, A3s, etc
+ Fundamental knowledge of electrical equipment at component and integrated system levels.
+ Demonstrated ability to interpret regulations and standards, and implement Electrical Safe Work practices such NFPA 70E.
+ Demonstrated ability to interpret and troubleshoot electrical control, protection, instrumentation, and metering schematics and wiring diagrams
+ Demonstrated ability to work with little direction and effectively operate in a team-oriented environment.
+ Ability to assist manufacturing operations and product designers/engineering personnel to resolve electrical design and build production issues.
+ Ability to interpret, suggest, and resolve equipment or installation issues with multiple and varied electrical contractors.
+ Ability to work overtime when required.
