Overview

BATTERY SYSTEMS ENGINEER (F3020 2025-23091):

Bowhead seeks a System Engineer to join our team in supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Power, Energy & Interconnect Technology Division (JXM).

The System Engineer shall assist with next generation submarine battery development data analysis an also provide quality assurance services for vendors.

Responsibilities

Essential functions will include:

  • Creating System Qualification Test Plans, Performance Test Plans, Safety/Hazard Characterization Test Plans, Procedures, and Reports
  • Execute (or oversee a team to execute) the tests at NSWC Crane and Expeditionary Battery fielded system locations and battery vendor sites
  • Conduct Field Integration and Operational Check-out through Initial Operating Capability, perform periodic Field Maintenance on large batteries.
  • Perform Reliability Analyses and Safety Engineering processes on systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field is required with five (5) to ten (10) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Navy manned and unmanned underwater systems
  • Understanding of system engineering, as applied to the range of energy storage devices such as batteries, fuel cells, and other devices and systems energy storage and power systems
  • Advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Physical Demands: 

  • Must be able to stand, sit and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically.
