POSITION SUMMARY
The Bindery Operator is responsible for a combination of work performed in the Bindery Department, including operating the cutter, folder, stitcher, booklet maker, gathering line and PUR binder.
Performance Expectations: Ensure accurate job runs, high performance, safe work practices, minimal downtime, efficient and professional communication.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Reports to Production Manager any concerns to ensure that both technical and workflow issues are addressed and optimized.
Able to trouble-shoot and problem solve on difficult projects.
Ensures that equipment is optimized and operating within required standards in terms of process controls, planned maintenance schedules, make ready and running standards.
Able to read and interpret information from the bindery paperwork/job jacket.
Communicates with Production Manager on validity of standards and expectations.
Able to produce work following Quality Controls and Process Controls, to produce high quality work in the allotted time frames.
Responsibly and accurately records productivity & performance for evaluation against expectations of the plan.
Responsible to coach, train, and direct any General Workers, Apprentice Bindery employees, and temporary labor in executing tasks when they are assisting on the equipment.
Recommends equipment repairs, parts, and supplies as needed.
Coordinates pass-off of information between adjacent shifts, with the goal of minimizing downtime and increasing productivity through information sharing.
Informs Production Manager of any immediate concerns related to the successful operation of the department.
Contributes/attends regular production / project specific meetings when required.
Participates in specific continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensures that their work area and the rest of the bindery remain clean and tidy.
Complies with all safety and health policies, procedures and practices
Supports organizational goals and values.
Performs other duties as required.
Position Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or higher degree
2-3 years experience in graphics, printing, production environment
Prior Bindery experience preferred
Attention to detail is a must
Demonstrates good troubleshooting skills.
Demonstrates the ability to effectively and efficiently maintain and repair the press.
Demonstrates attention to detail and accuracy; monitors own work to ensure quality; exhibits sound and accurate judgment.
Reacts well under pressure and manages competing demands.
Follows instructions and responds to management direction; listens and gets clarification.
Prioritizes and plans work activities and uses time efficiently – excellent time management skills
Demonstrates professional behavior when communicating and working with other employees, vendors and/or customers.
Works overtime as assigned
