Job Description

Purpose:

The Biotechnology Lab Technician will perform research in the NanoBio Systems Laboratory, a multidisciplinary lab featured in microbiology research integrated with microfluidics (website: http://nanobio.tamu.edu).

The project will be highly interdisciplinary and fast-paced, having multiple collaborating labs in environmental microbiology, microbial pathogenesis, and bioinformatics.

The candidate is expected to work closely with lab members including postdoctoral researchers and graduate students.


Responsibilities:

+ Perform microbiological experiments in the NanoBio Systems Laboratory.

+ Work closely with postdoctoral researchers and graduate students in the laboratory.

+ Perform other duties as assigned.


What we need:

+ Bachelors degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience

+ Two years of related experience

What is helpful:

+ Masters degree in microbiology or related fields.

+ Extensive experience in microbiology skills such as isolation and cultivation of bacterial strains, growth phenotype examination, molecular biology skills such as nucleic acid or protein extraction, electroporation etc.



+ Experience in handling cells (mammalian cells, microorganisms) in microsystems.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

+ Strong expertise in microbiology and molecular biology disciplines.



+ Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.

+ Ability to manage multiple projects.
