Under supervision, the Building Code Inspector Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of a team of building code Inspectors to ensure construction and development projects comply with applicable building codes, zoning laws, and safety regulations.

Supervise and evaluate the work of subordinates performing field inspections for new construction, remodeling, and repair projects.

Provide technical direction, mentoring, and training to inspection staff to ensure accurate code interpretation and enforcement.

Conduct complex inspections and handle escalated issues involving major developments or code disputes.

Review inspection reports, correction notices, and documentation to ensure compliance with department policies and applicable codes and local ordinances.

Monitor construction activities to ensure public safety, structural integrity, and regulatory compliance.

Coordinate with plan review staff, contractors, architects, engineers, and developers to resolve code-related issues and facilitate project progress.

Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluation of inspection personnel.

Keep current with changes to federal, state, and local codes and communicate updates to the inspection team.

Maintain inspection records, generate reports, and contribute to departmental planning and improvement initiatives.

Perform other duties as assigned.

High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of job-related experience; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Safety & Compliance Spec 3 (RCP012) or position equivalent.

Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license.

Note: Some positions may require certification and/or licensure.
