About this Position


General building maintenance, maintaining heating/air conditioning and refrigeration systems, electrical systems, general plumbing and other duties as required or necessary.

Required to work overtime when necessary.

Required to participate in rotating on-call schedule.

Overtime and on-call hours include non-business hours such as nights, weekends, and holidays.


Required Qualifications

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)


  • High school diploma/GED with three (3) years of prior successful work experience in a building trade; and/or the equivalent of 600 hours Vocational/Technical education in a related building trade field plus two (1) years of prior successful work experience in a building trade.

    Highly developed ability to observe and take note, good communication skills, ability to follow instructions closely, ability to work with very little supervision.

    Ability to access tight spaces to perform job, pass a respirator fit test, and wear full face respirator for extended periods.

    May need to climb and/or work from stairs, ladders, scaffold, etc.

    Ability to work in a squat position or on knees for extended periods.

    Broad general mechanical/electrical/electronic background.

    General building skill experience (., carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, .Ability to become proficient in the use of Aim Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology.




  • Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses: Have before hire and maintain after hire, a valid driver's license.

    A valid driver's license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned.

    Forklift/Lift Truck Operator Safety Certificate must be acquired after employment begins.

    Must be eligible for employment in areas governed by the .

    Patriot Act and the Public Health and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002, 42 CFR 73, 7 CFR 331, and 9 CFR 121.

    Consequently, the individual hired for this position must successfully complete a Department of Justice/Federal Bureau of Investigation (DOJ/FBI) security risk assessment as well as the background check.


  • Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge: Knowledge of State and Federal Mechanical and Electrical Codes, knowledge of safety regulations, broad knowledge of construction and maintenance.
